How the right-click test works
Only the right mouse button counts, and the right-click menu is switched off inside the box so it never gets in the way. The timer starts on your first right-click. On a Mac with a one-button mouse or trackpad, Ctrl+click counts as a right click. On a phone or tablet, taps are counted instead.
Right-click scores are saved separately from the left-click CPS test, so you can track both.
Why right-click speed matters
In Minecraft, the right mouse button places blocks and uses items, so fast right-clicking helps with bridging, building in a hurry and refilling or throwing items in PvP. In other games it's often aim-down-sights, a secondary fire or an ability. Most people's right-click is noticeably slower than their left, because the middle finger gets far less practice.
What is a good right-click CPS?
With normal clicking, 5–7 right-clicks per second is typical and 8 or more is fast. Jitter and butterfly techniques work on the right button too and can push scores well into double figures. If your right-click score is much lower than your left, a few short practice runs a day usually closes the gap quickly.
Tips
- Click with the tip of your middle finger, near the front of the button, where the click is lightest.
- Keep your index finger resting on the left button so your hand stays steady.
- If the right button feels mushy or sometimes double-clicks, check it with the mouse test.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't my left clicks count?
This page measures the right button only, so you can practise it on its own. Use the CPS test for left clicks.
Will the right-click menu pop up?
Not inside the test box. Outside the box, right-click works as normal.
Does it work on a laptop trackpad?
Yes, if your trackpad has a right-click (often a two-finger tap or a click in the bottom-right corner), but trackpad scores are much lower than mouse scores.
